Liberal Democrat MPs Really Like To Sing Songs About Porn

The most popular tradition at the Liberal Democrat conference is their annual Glee Club. It's utterly bizarre event where members get drunk and sing songs about some of the strangest topics.

Glee Club is the highlight of every Liberal Democrat conference.

Every year hundreds of Lib Dem members and MPs come together to sing songs.

But it's fair to say Lib Dem Glee Club is a little different from the US TV show. Here's the songbook.

And here's a typical act: Julian Huppert, MP for Cambridge, leading the crowd in a rendition of the "Porn Song" from the musical "Avenue Q".

Huppert's performance mainly consisted of the MP screaming "the internet is for porn" as loudly as possible.

He was joined on synths by John Hemming, MP for Birmingham Yardley

Some of the Lib Dem Glee Club songs are based on classic hits.

Some of the songs are a little niche.

...and some of the songs aren't very complimentary. Lib Dem members sang this about Danny Alexander, one of the party's leading MPs.

We showed those lyrics to Alexander, whose nickname is Beaker. He said he didn't find them very funny.

This one is Don McLean's "American Pie" rewritten to be "Tony Blair Can F*** Off And Die".

Some of the songs let Lib Dem members express their true feelings about the coalition government.

Sometimes the political songs get too much, so Lib Dems sing this.

But despite the weirdness, there's something endearing about Simon Hughes MP leading 300 people in a song about campaigning for the Lib Dems. Especially when it's 1.30am. And you're in a hotel bar in Glasgow.
