    In regards to feminism

As men, feminism is a word that scares us. The first thought that comes to mind is a scorned woman with an angry scowl, lashing out at men for acting like pigs. I used to be what you might call a douchebag, I actively spoke out against feminism because I was afraid of losing the power balance. I imagined a world without comradery, where men couldn't make dirty jokes or say the wrong thing without being verbally attacked. What really upset me was the idea that women have certain female privileges that men don't have, so to give them more power was to give them more privilege. Women can: Drink for free, get out of tickets easier, cry in order to manipulate a situation, date multiple people with little effort, cancel a date any time they want without consequence, and marry someone without being expected to work. Then I realized something, feminism would end all of that. It would take the pressure off men to be the primary breadwinner, give women more responsibility in social interaction, allow men to make dirty jokes and women to laugh at them without looking like a whore. Men would be able to express themselves verbally without holding in resentment that turns into abuse. Maybe instead of us buying drinks for women, women would buy drinks for us. The word feminism scares us because it excludes men the same way the word "masculism" excludes women. Often the happiest and most successful countries all have one thing in common, equality. Switzerland is the wealthiest, iceland has the lowest rate of spousal abuse and sweden is the most sexually accepting. Compare this to countries like: Russia, Mexico, North Korea, and the middle east and its easy to see that the countries who thrive are ones with equality. Its time to put our swords away and work together, not for male rights, not for female rights but for equal rights. In the end, everyone wins.
