The UK's nuclear weapons are costing us 350 grand an hour to keep them going. That's a lot of nicker! Are there better things you could do with that kind of cash?

1. A school's worth of (nice) teachers

Yes, that's right - you could even get nice teachers like her! (not like grumpy Mr Evans you had for geography in year 9) With the kind of money you've got, you could pay 12 primary school teachers for a whole year. Yay for happy bright young minds!

2. Netflix for 58,430 of your friends

Nothing says I love you like... well, ok there's maybe even better ways to say I love you. But a month on Netflix and your friends will be TV-tastic happy (all 50 thousand-odd - yep, you might make a few new telly-watching mates).

3. 15 nurses -- surely a good thing?

Couldn't your local hospital do with more than a baker's dozen extra nurses for a year? You betcha. That's how much you could get for the hourly cost of all those nuke warheads.

4. An island
