7 Types Of Contestants Likely To Be Featured On The Apprentice

It's back again, most likely with these delightful set of characters.

1. The Bulldog

Claire Young (Series 4) and Ruth Badger (Series 2) are both prime examples of the ‘bulldog’; they may be boisterous personalities that annoy the hell out of you and the other candidates, and they may be prepared to boil their grannies in oil to make a sale, but boy do they get the job done. Also is it just me or do they look related?

2. The Sassy One

Every year we get a finger-wagging, eye-rolling, melodramatic but rather loveable candidate who isn’t afraid to let their voice be heard. We are only a few episodes into this year’s series but Steven Ugoalah certainly nabbed this title in episode one. My personal favourite quote of his so far; 'it's not just a potato, it's an experience'. Actually Steven I'm pretty sure it's just a potato but you can't fault him for having passion about such a mundane product.

3. The one that really applied to Big Brother but settled for the Boardroom

The character you love to hate, and simultaneously hate to love. An unhealthy mix between 'the bulldog' and 'the sassy one', and wants to really pursue a career in reality TV. Be honest though, if what Lord Sugar stated in the first episode was true - that the brightest and most creative minds in London are sitting in front of him – then we would never have the pleasure of these wildly ruthless and bitchy characters. The funny thing is that Katie Hopkins and Luisa Zissman both finish 3rd and 2nd in their respective series so they certainly did something right.

4. The Silent Assassin

The one who makes little to no impression in the first few weeks, emerges as the dark horse of the series, and eventually bags the job with Lord Sugar and the nation’s support. Usually not as entertaining as any of the above, but after all, Sugar is ultimately looking for someone to go into business with.

5. The Nice One

A rarity in The Apprentice, but always a refreshing change to the usual line-up of candidates, who make The Hunger Games look like a walk in the park. The nice one is the one who looks like they were wondering around the shopping centre, popped into the Bridge Café for a bite to eat, and were mistakenly dragged into the boardroom by an absent-minded member of the production team.

6. The Wallpaper

Provides no entertainment; not stupid enough to provide moments of incredulous embarrassment, yet not smart or cut-throat enough to shine through. Remember either of the candidates above? Didn’t think so.

7. The One Who Just Won't Shut Up

In the opening sequences every year we are treated to a delightful array of cringe-worthy sound bites of self-promotion. One of the gems being ‘My first word wasn’t mummy, it was money’. But you usually give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they’re only saying this for air time and to make an impression. In all fairness, this does turn out to be the case with most of the contestants. However, there is always one candidate who, unbelievably, is just that egotistical, cringe-worthy and deluded. Whilst they make it inexplicably far in the process, it wouldn’t be The Apprentice without them.
