19 Signs You Grew Up Eating Health Food Before It Was Cool

    Before there was gluten-free, there were... your hippie parents.

    1. You didn't have REAL soda until you went over to someone's house for a sleepover.

    2. There are sugar cereal families and "health cereal" families. And yours was definitely NOT a sugar cereal family.

    3. But you wanted to eat Trix SO BADLY.

    4. You were mega-jealous over all the other kids' Happy Meal toys.

    5. Peanut butter wasn't Jif or Skippy. It was this.

    6. When people talk about weird grains because they're gluten-free, you're like... yeah, I grew up eating that.

    7. Two words: FROOKIE. COOKIES.

    8. If you were allowed to have dairy milk, it was ALWAYS skim.

    9. Most kids got to eat Gushers. You got broccoli.

    10. But you could pick from any flavor of fruit leather.

    11. You ate all-natural versions of the candy all your friends were eating.

    12. You still consider potato chips to be a luxurious treat only for special occasions.

    13. Sprouts. So many sprouts.

    14. You begged your parents for Lunchables.

    LOL, nope.

    15. Instead of fast food on road trips, your parents packed carrot sticks and healthy sandwiches.

    16. You had actual dreams about Wonder Bread.

    17. But you were allowed all the nondairy treats you wanted.

    18. High fructose corn syrup was anathema in your house.

    19. When kids brought birthday treats to class, you were like, OH MY GOD I GET TO EAT SUGAR.

    But you're so grateful for your parents for raising you right, because you still adhere to their healthy habits today!
