A UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Posted A Really Offensive Photo About Colombians On Twitter

She deleted the photo depicting Colombia's soccer players snorting cocaine but provoked outrage online. UPDATE: Van Dam apologized on Twitter for her earlier tweet.

This is Nicolette Van Dam, a Dutch actress and a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Tomorrow, Colombia will play in the World Cup, and earlier this evening Nicolette decided to post this on Twitter:

Many have taken to Twitter to express their disgust, questioning her role as a “UNICEF Goodwill ambassador":

@NicoletteVanDam .. and you are an ambassador for unicef? that title is too big for you...

@saintsacional @UNICEF @NicoletteVanDam it's disappointing! Is she your ambassador? Or is a hobby for her? Colombians want public apologises

Others expressed how her actions were hurtful and disrespectful:

Dear @NicoletteVanDam the fact that you erased your offense to my country, does not mean that is OK now, it was rude and ignorant.

@NicoletteVanDam A whole country hate you #ColombiaIsNOTCocaine We deserve respect

And others commented on the joke's poor taste:

@NicoletteVanDam Gross ignorant, Colombia is much more than that¡¡¡¡¡

@RevistaSemana A eurocentric vision that mocks the sport and producing countries cocaine consumed in the Netherlands @NicoletteVanDam

@NicoletteVanDam You should seriously consider a recovery treatment from both your addictions and your lousy humor.

Update — 8:16 p.m. ET: Van Dam offered an apology on Twitter for her earlier tweet.

Queridos Colombianos, there was no offense intended from my side. Please accept my honest and sincere apologies. #RespectColombia
