23 Signs You Were Born To Travel

Some people were put on this earth to travel. Are you one of them?

    1.

Click the heels of your shoes (Havaianas, who are we kidding) together three times and odds are you'll end up in an airport. There's no place like home...

    2.

You don't mind long bus or train journeys. iPod run out of battery? No dramas, you'll happily pass the time daydreaming about your travel wishlist

    3.

With a constant stream of cities and countries swirling around your head, you're always thinking about where to go next. The possibilities!

    4.

You always flick straight to the world map double spreads at the back of airline magazines. Where haven't you been yet, where do you want to go and where do you plan on returning? You can happily spend an hour on these pages before flicking to the features

    5.

You only go back to places if you feel you didn't get the chance to explore them fully or if they hold a special place in your heart. You'd rather spend your money on going somewhere different; somewhere that sparks a surprised reaction from friends and family (bonus points for palpable shock)

    6.

You're more than happy to leave a stable, well-paid job in your dust as you jet off to foreign lands. You'll worry about money when you run out - or pick up some casual work here and there

    7.

An office job is never going to be quite enough. Travel's the game, National Geographic's the name...or anything remotely related. Working your way around the world one guest blog at a time or opening your own hostel have also crossed your mind

    8.

You use your annual leave to visit unusual places rather than opting for a run-of-the-mill beach vacation. You'd choose whale watching in Reykjavik or trekking the Inca Trail over a boozy trip to Zante any day

    9.

You'll happily head out on your travels even if you can't find anyone to go with you; heck, it might even be better than having a friend in tow. You've always been content with your own company and know that some things are actually more enjoyable when done alone

    10.

You lust after adventures that other people would consider their own personal hell. But to you, camping in the middle of the desert and fending off swarms of mosquitoes in the jungle is all part of the experience - and you'll come back with a story or two to tell

    11.

Uncongenial weather doesn't faze you. Whatever the elements throw at you - torrential rains, gale force winds, burning heat, freezing cold, raging thunderstorms - you make the most of it and consider it part of the experience

    12.

You can sleep anywhere. A 20 hour overnight bus, a noisy hostel, on someone's floor...you ain't fussy

    13.

You're naturally curious. If you see something of potential interest down an alleyway or through an open door you'll automatically take a detour to check it out - and it is by doing this that you discover little-known treasures off the tourist trail

    14.

You can pack a bag for a three-month trip in record time. Probably helps that your backpack was never fully unpacked in the first place

    15.

You almost prefer living out of a backpack; having a limited number of outfits makes getting ready in the mornings so much easier. Many items you considered essentials before you left are neglected on your return

    16.

You get on with things that others would flat out refuse to do - using squat toilets, peeing behind a bush, smelling clothes to gauge whether you can eke out another day's use...needs must

    17.

You stop caring about what you look like. Recycling outfits week in, week out and ditching hair products/cosmetics etc is what it's all about; why on earth would you waste time getting dolled up when you could be out exploring?

    18.

You make friends within minutes of arriving at a new hostel, no matter how introverted you were at home. Your inhibitions are pushed to one side as you metamorphose into a social butterfly

    19.

You feel - and other people have noticed - that travel has changed you. You always knew it was going to be what helped you reach your full potential, shake off any inhibitions and define you as a person. You come back from each trip more confident and fulfilled

    20.

Your spare time revolves around travel: planning trips, reading guide books, adding to your blog & swatting up on photography skills. You set time aside for these while you're away, even if it means turning down a night out or a meal with your roommates

    21.

You know how unpredictable long-term travel can be, and you're perfectly happy winging it. You don't stress when something doesn't go to plan and chop and change your itinerary as and when

    22.

Similarly, you're not too fussed about what comes next; you have no idea where you're going to end up living, or what you're going to end up doing. And you find that pretty exciting

    23.

You have an unhealthy obsession with passport stamps: how many you've racked up, where your next one will be from & how you compare with fellow travellers. And God help the immigration officer who stamps a clean double page
