"We are proud to support this cause in Tori’s memory and all those who knew him are deeply grateful for any donations made."

At Tori's family's request, donations will go to mental health organisation Beyond Blue - with Lindt pledging the first donation of $51,000.

In a media release, Beyond Blue chairman Jeff Kennet said the organisation would use all money raised to support people and families living with depression and anxiety.

"Today Beyond Blue was contacted by Lindt and the partner of Tori Johnson to advise us of the family's wishes," he said. "Beyond Blue is humbled and honoured by this gesture. All money raised in memory of this courageous young man will be used to support people and families living with depression and anxiety. The first donation of $51,000 was made by Lindt this afternoon. Beyond Blue would like to express its deepest sympathies to Mr Johnson's partner, family and the Lindt team, and thank them for their support."
