The movie will be filmed in Silvey's home state of Western Australia, which hosted a stage adaptation of the book earlier this year.

Jasper Jones is part coming-of-age novel, part murder mystery, and explores racial tensions in 1960s Australia through the story of Charlie Bucktin and his friendship with town outcast Jasper Jones.

No word yet on the cast, but with Kylie Minogue recently posting about her love of the book, perhaps she'll be persuaded to return to the screen?
