1. What a difference a week makes...
After more signings and 2 victories on the bounce, the gloom has lifted.
2. Only a few games. But , at last, CMS is thriving.
It was his first League goal since New Years Day 2013...
The system is great. The gaffer wants me to stretch the game and allow the ball players to get in there and find my runs. It works towards my strengths and I feel like I'm coming more into my own throughout the games. It suits me perfectly and it's what I've been waiting for, for the previous three years. "It's nice to get back on the score sheet and it's a good building block for the next few games. I'm just going to keep working hard and pushing the gaffer to make sure I start every week. "I'm getting closer to full fitness and with my sharpness I'm getting there, but I think I still need two or three more games to reach my peak again.
and if this had gone in ...
3. We're starting to fall in love with this bloke...
We're already talking about not wanting to send him back...
Bolton's No.2 keeper should have saved his goal though...
Was he really "not good enough to get a game at Brentford ?"
Shakira !
4. We love this bloke even more...
Calde was making his 150th appearance for the club on Saturday. Before the match he tweeted this. Is that him in the middle front row ?
5. Albion fan favourite; Dougie Freedman was seeminly watching a different game to everyone else...
"Let's not kid ourselves, it boils down to the fact that Brighton had two or three chances in the second half and took one, we had a couple and didn't take ours at all," he said."It's one of the biggest problems. When they upped their game a bit in the last 15 minutes of the first half we had to really dig in and make sure we kept that result. There wasn't a lot in the game.
6. Albion might just have found another impressive left back loanee
Bennett looks calm on the ball, athletic, and ambitious in possession. If he maintains this level of performance, Steven Ward will not be missed.
We arrived at the Amex stadium in good time to a nice welcome from bar staff dressed in BWFC T-shirts and leaflets, thanking us for making the 546-mile round trip to enjoy the game and have a safe trip home.Unfortunately Brighton need to work on the quality of their overpriced beer as £7.50 for a pie and a pint hardly constitutes a bargain. This was a mixed performance with both teams enjoying periods of dominance. We weathered the early Brighton storm and then got on top.It was no surprise when Matt Mills headed us in front. However, these days our defence find it difficult to hold their breath, never mind a lead.Brighton duly equalised just before half-time, through Craig Mackail-Smith. In the process, we lost Adam Bogdan with a head injury. We started the second half well until Joao Teixeira scored against the run of play. Then we ran out of ideas. We sadly lack anyone who can direct and dictate play on the pitch. Heads went down on and off the field as the feeling of déjà vu grew.We cannot afford another bad start and yet we are having one. The only bright spark was the performance of young Hadyen White.
and the turning point was the unfortunate injury for Adam Bogdan
And only 403 fans from Lancashire meant a low 24K crowd at the Amex.
8. CMS goal was onside...
Great late run with Bolton defender playing him on...
I have been so frustrated the last few seasons. I know we have ended up in the top six but at what cost The football has at times been painfully boring and dull. I was very worried about the lack of signings, I basically think we gave away 6 pts at the start of the season, by not signing players earlier, but that looks to have been addressed....I have never been a glory hunter or a jcl, I've been going since 79,,,but I do want to be entertained and feel I have had value for money....For the first time in a long time, I walked away from ground yesterday totally entertained and content....1-0 wins, with 70% possession in your own half and two shots on target just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid, even if it's every game. Yes you would win the league, but at what cost, football is supposed to be the working man's Saturday treat. Not a dull chore....My change in attitude, Is down to a change in playing style......Oh and I was very impressed with Holla yesterday as well, great range of passing and as cool as you like....please to say I was wrong about him.via Kev The Rev
We are also aware of some of the more hysterical (and, in some cases, quite ridiculous) social media outpourings - and, yes, we've also received a few emails on the subject? Of course it's very easy to criticise the club and some of the staff using the anonymity provided by a keyboard, but it's a lot harder to actually do the business itself.Unfortunately, when real money and livelihoods are at stake, it's somewhat different to a game of Championship Manager! Speaking frankly, it's been surprising, disappointing and frustrating to hear a very small number of people questioning the club's and the chairman's ambition. He has made a personal investment now totalling over £200 million! Thanks to Tony the club has an award-winning stadium and a world-class training ground and academy. Of course that isn't everything, and we know that alongside that our fans are the lifeblood of the club. I've said many times, the support from Albion fans has been amazing from the first day I came to the club. Thanks to you, we have the highest crowds in the Championship and close to 22,000 season ticket holders.
Perhaps he meant tweets like this after last Saturday...
Although to be fair WAB tweeted this after the Leeds win...
11. The Albion *can* win after going behind. 2nd time in five regular league matches.
12. Paul Barber has er, a dry sense of humour. He chose to do the Ice Bucket Challenge. In front of the North Stand at half time...
And although relations have been strained, to his credit, the Argus' Andy Naylor also took it on the chin after being nominated by Paul.
