1. It was a big win...for Wigan
It was a good result, although the last twenty minutes cost me five years of my life.
2. Clinical was the word of the day. Wigan only had 2 chances on target, but took them.
We had 20 chances yet we only scored one goal. Wigan had two chances and scored two goals. We should have scored more than two for sure; we fully deserved to win. We dominated the whole game.I can take positives from the performance, but what is less positive is that we need to be more clinical in front of goal.
But perhaps we shouldn't have been too surprised
3. If only this...
or this ...
and who says Oscar is defensive. We finished game with Orlandi at left back and Lua Lua, Buckley, Ulloa and Obika all on the pitch.
4. 2 ex players have their say. Steve Claridge says club might deem it "Underachievement" if Albion don't make the play offs.
Its difficult to sum it up, he's got a wonderful squad, they have lost 1 or 2 important players. But when you take over a football club, normally its under the circumstances when the previous manager hasn't done very well and has had to move on. But Gus got the club to the play offs. So if that isn't attained by Brighton this season then is that a underachievement ? I don't know what the perceptions will be. I know the club will have to tighten their cloth because of the amount of money they've lost this season. I think he's done ok, but there's room for improvement.
For reference, this is what Tony Bloom said about our play off chances back in October.
5. And Robbie Savage is rubbing it in
He's had a ongoing spat with Andy Naylor over whether Oscar was right to make 7 changes for Hull match
6. At least our favourite brewery managed to finish in style.
7. Leo really is back to form after the lay off
A goal a game for the last 4.
but its actually a goal every other game now. 18 goals in a total of 36 appearances for the Albion.
But don't get too carried away
8. Spanish Dave, Orlandi and Bruno had their best games for months
Some inch perfect passes from SD yesterday...
This creative trio (Orlandi, Bruno and SD) formed the beating heart of most things that Brighton did well and Lopez looked, for once, like he was enjoying himself. Lopez is arguably stronger in a central position, but with the likes of Bruno and Orlandi around him he can create space to whip the ball into the box and when on point his delivery can put the ball on a plate for the attackers. He even put a few tackles in, although his lightweight nature still reared its head.He was taken off after 76 minutes to bring on Jonathon Obika but he provided more to the team in that time than he has all season combined.
9. Where's Kemy ?
He's fit but didn't make the 18 again.
10. The sun was out. At last. The Amex is beautiful isn't it ?
and this is Paul Hazlewood's pic of BBC Radio Sussex' commentator Johnny Cantor pre-kick off.
11. A defeat can cause unwarranted gloom
but still only 4 points off play offs with game in hand
12. Do we really lack fire power up front ?
13. but those post match attempts to raise revenue are getting out of hand...
But at least Wayne Rooney still remembers how to take his chances much to that lot's chagrin...
There's one word to describe where the Albion would be without TB, and that word is fucked. To hear some fans (and former managers) claiming that the club lacks ambition is in my mind at best ill informed, and at worst the sign of an enfeebled delusional brain. At the end of June 2013 he had loaned the club £102 million, and had another £60 invested in the form of shares. Since that date he has written off another £11 million of the loan by converting it into shares. Furthermore, this year's losses are likely to be around £8 million, and the club have a £21 million commitment in respect of the Lancing training facility. People may query how much money he has spare to stick into the club, but in keeping with being an expert poker player, he keeps his cards close to his chest. Suffice to say is that if my sources are right, he could do the same investment again at least two to three times. However there is no reason why he should be expected to subsidise our enjoyment. Last season he effectively subsidised every ticket at the Amex by £21 from his personal wealth. We are very lucky to have him as a chairman, but just as importantly as a fan, as there's less chance of him throwing his toys out of the pram and threatening to walk away, as the club is in his blood just as it is in ours.
