    Doctor Who Invades NYComicCon

In a demonstration of uber fandom, cosplayers of Doctor Who took over an unsuspecting floor within the convention halls of NYCC. In the year of the show’s 50th anniversary, a larger and stronger force of Whovians seem to have grown from its recent years of viewership. Once spotted as a fledgling expression of costumed love for The Doctor, the characters have now come out in drones and imaginative display.

Known as Whovian Cosplay NY, the group has made yearly arrangements to gather at a photo shoot area in an organized order. In addition to the well-known iterations of The Doctor and his companions, other more obscure creatures have come out to play such as the Cybershade, the Family of Blood Scarecrow and the Ood. Lady Cassandra made an appearance along with her moisturizing medics.

    The Doctor Dances

A sister of the Sibylline managed the crowds while Lucy Saxon and some versions of The Master stared down the camera. This photo group brought on a rendition of the Sound of Drums as the attendees clapped and drummed for The Master. There was also a moment were the crowd sang the show theme in honor of the 9th Doctor for The Doctor Dances.

Throughout the gathering, the TARDIS and Idris were available for photo foolery. Multiple sonic screwdrivers were activated and classic Doctors brought to heart the timeless sentiment of the first few Doctor regenerations.

For that short gathering, the cosplayers seemed to be on the planet Gallifrey rather than New York Comic Con.
