I do not read much comic books and thus do not know about this guy. However, I think his rant is being taken out of proportion. The sentiment he has expressed, although in a very clumsy and tactless way, is to my eyes much more feminist-oriented than woman-hatred. He is complaining against the objectification of women. In fact, he is complaining against these women’s self-objectification through cosplay. I would have a lot to tell him about the objectification of women in comic books, but let’s summarize it like this: These big-breasted-women-with-low-self-esteem-begging-for-attention types he is addressing are the product of comic book artists and writers who tend to, more often than not, present a big-breast-small-waist-big-ass stereotype in the whole business. But he knows this. He said it in his last lines : “And the real reason for the Con, and the damned costumes yer parading around in? That would be Comic Book Artists, and Comic Book Writers who make all that shit up.” He is also complaining about how it is now “cool” to be a geek and the phenomenon of more and more people claiming to be geeks when in fact their geekiness is limited. Geeks are hipsters in that way. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing they are trying to protect these things that have been their passions during their whole life while for some it may just be a phase.
