22 Reasons Why We're Soulmates

Happy birthday, Becky! Although I cannot be there to share your special day, I know that you know I am always there (I could say in your heart but I'd rather say in the backside of your knee that connects your leg and thigh...does that have a name?). Anyways, in honor of your 22 years on planet earth and of being my best friend I want to remind you the 22 reasons why I believe we are actually soulmates.

1. We're neighbors

You are literally a 10 minute walk from my house. I can't remember exactly how we met or if it was 1st or 2nd grade, but all I know is I thought you were coolest girl I knew in elementary school that could kick my ass with her karate moves if she wanted to.

Whether I was coming over to watch The Daily Show, SNL, or a scary movie, play the Sims, jump on your trampoline, or eat Martha's delicious salmon, it was always a good time. And you know whatever we ate whether it was Domino's or mac and cheese it was always washed down with a diet coke or Nantucket Nectar!!!

2. 8th grade happened

We were on the same color team in 8th grade (Blue in case you forgot!) where we endured Mr. Masi, Science Quest, and a tragic field trip to Boston where we left a student and were trapped for hours on a broken down coach bus on the side of the highway in Hartford. However, it was that fateful day we truly discovered the depth of our friendship. Maybe it was our 'Gap in the hood' inside joke or how we literally sat next to each other for 8 straight hours, but that was definitely a turning point in our lives.

3. We're both a little weird

Maybe me more than you but I always felt we had a sense of humor that most people just don't get.

4. We share an adoration for Vanessa Carlton

She's an animal-loving bisexual artist whose music exemplifies our friendship from where it started (in "White Houses") and where it's going ("I Don't Wanna Be A Bride"(?)).

5. We love scary things

I think we both have an obsession for scary movies and anything terrifying. You had a party at Fright Fest at Lake Compounce!!!! I've seen A Clockwork Orange with you, The Shining, The Blair Witch Project, Darkness Falls, among a ton others. You might be only friend that actually enjoys them as much as I do!

6. You balance out my crazy

You are the yin to my yang. Without you, I'd be a hotter mess than I already am!

7. We love our dogs and they love you!

Your dog whispering skills have even been able to tame the most wild untamable dogs (and I am not talking about Miley Cyrus who still can't be tamed). Chloe Jane Zomback melts every time she sees you. I don't know what you did during those first few days where you two bonded, but you certainly have some kind of magic that animals can't help but fall in love with. Call yourself Dr. Doolittle, you're going to be the best veterinarian ever!

8. Cape Cod

You, Paige, and I are proof that with a little effort, time, and love, friendship conquers all distances. Cape Cod has become a place that I attach so many good memories to between our summers in Chatham with Paige to more recently in Hyannis with your cousins.

9. Men & music

We both share a love for rap and hip-hop (and most of the men with thirst-trap tendencies that produce rap and hip-hop!) This is kind of rare for two white kids from Cheshire, Connecticut.

10. We have like ESPN or something

Sometimes I feel like we're having the same exact thoughts. I think we may have telepathic abilities.

11. We embrace our insecurities

We've both got a lot of love for ourselves which is rare in country that has such high standards for beauty. But let's face it, despite our flat asses, we're two beautiful humans.

12. We went to prom together...TWICE!

'Nuf said. We were the hottest/cutest couple at Junior and Senior prom. Plus, everyone knows whoever you take to prom usually ends up being either your "first time" or soulmate. Luckily, we're the latter.

13. You've always been there for me

Through the good times and the bad, the rain and the sun, we've been there for each other. Through all of our adversities as we grew up I always felt like I could tell you anything. I am so thankful to have you in my life!

14. You can live with me

In spite of our spring breaks not aligning exactly, you still hosted me in Miami for what was the most memorable birthday week of my life! You drove me EVERYWHERE. From Key West and back, and despite close quarters and you balancing work and school, we managed to stay sane!

15. We're adventure seekers!

Remember that time we dropped over 100 in the air feet while attached to each other? You're the only person in the world I'd ever want to do that with. I still have to work myself up to go sky diving like you, but I think we both love adventure and thrill-seeking.

16. I've been adopted by your family

I think it's safe to say I am accepted by your family. The Kania's treat me as if I was one of their own, and for that I am #blessed. If only I was blonde!

17. I was blonde like you once too, though

Because I WAS blonde that could have some significance to our fate, right? I could carry the gene, right?

18. We think feet are gross

EWWWWWWWWWW.

19. We're the Aladdin and Jasmine of our generation

You showed me the world despite my father's wishes, and defeated the evil Jafar just for me.

20. We have complementary styles

You've saved my ass (literally) with your bathing suit savvy. Our senses of style complement each other. They just work. Preppy meets casual meets athletic meets a bathing suit. Miss J agrees.

21. We know how to have fun

From Beyonce concerts to turning up in Miami or Connecticut, turning down in my basement, we always have a good time together.

22. And IIIIIIIIIII will always love youuuuuuuu!

They say good friends can grow together without ever growing apart. It was so hard to live far away from each other during our four years of college, but we managed to grow and keep our friendship. I love you, Becky. I am so proud of you and all you've accomplished. You're achieving your dreams of vet school and I'm an exotic dancer! It's what we always imagined. I'm just so thrilled you're even closer to me. Cheers to you and us soulmates!
