CBS Freaked "CSI" Fans Out By Mistakenly Promoting The Series Finale

CBS accidentally promoted the CSI "series finale" during an episode of NCIS.

During Tuesday's episode of NCIS, CBS ran an on-screen promo for the "series finale" of CSI.

The only catch is CBS had not previously announced Sunday's episode would be the show's last, only that it was the season finale. Fans were naturally shocked and upset.

I hate the games these networks play with us. Not just for #CSI but all shows. It makes me crazy, sad, uncertain and frustrated :(

I was trying to ignore and pretend I didn't see where it said "series finale" for #CSI during #NCIS an hour ago but I can't anymore :(

Hold up. What?? RT @williambwest Whoa. CSI series finale. Well, it had a good run. And spinoffs.

CSI officially cancelled. Kinda sad that the net couldn't give the ending a LITTLE more fanfair given its long history.

But Chris Ender, the executive vice president of communications for CBS, cleared up the confusion.

Dear Twitter chatter. Eyeliner graphic promoting this weekend's #CSI mistakenly said "Series Finale." It's the "Season Finale."

The season finale of CSI airs on Sunday at 10 p.m. on CBS.
