2. The Color of Hope: POC Mental Health Narratives

Mental health is a huge issue worldwide. This book aims to break down the stigma of mental illness in communities of color by compiling and publishing a book of stories from those affected by mental illness.

3. Let's Play: MURDER

Dark and comical, I'm a huge fan of anything that subverts the norm. This book seems to have been birthed from the darkest corner of "Go the F#$K to Sleep" and comes with bonus coffee mugs.

4. Things I Would Like To Do With You

Granted, I looked at this one because I had just looked at the Murder one and I thought this title was WAY something different. That said, this book is about a search for true love—a love without clinging that allows room for change, independence and humor. Who doesn't want that?

5. She Ra Mag

Technically, this is not a book, it's a magazine. But it makes the list because it combines my two favorite things: Feminism and SheRa, Princess of Power - my childhood hero (Shhhh... I still have all the toys)

6. The Real Boat - a magical interactive adventure story

Something about this book brings a tear to my eye. It reminds me of the Hungry Caterpillar and all those staples of my childhood. This one looks like a classic in the making.

7. Ebenezer Scrooge: Ghost Hunter

Scrooge is an alcoholic, defunct ghost hunter. When his dead ghost hunting partner, Marley, returns one Christmas Eve, Scrooge gets dragged back into the ghost hunting game - whether he wants to or not.
