Jyoti Amge Named World’s Smallest Woman

On her 18th birthday, Jyoti Amge has just been given the Guinness World Record for the shortest living woman. Measuring just 24.7 inches, the Indian student a) wants to be a Bollywood star, and b) is adorable!

Jyoti has a condition called achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, and is not expected to grow further.

At 62.8cm (24.7in), she is 7cm shorter than previous title holder, American Bridgette Jordan.

Upon being presented the award, she said “It is wonderful to celebrate my 18th birthday with a new world record, it’s like an added birthday present.”

Although she’s the world’s smallest living woman, the smallest woman ever recorded was Pauline Musters (1876-1895) of the Netherlands, who stood at 61cm (1.8cm shorter than Jyoti.)
