23 Things To Do At SFA Before You Graduate!

Congratulations on choosing Stephen F. Austin State University as the place for getting your degree! There is NO place quite like SFA & Nacogdoches to spend the next 4 or so years of your collegiate career!! Here are some AWESOME things you should try before walking across the stage at Johnson Coliseum! 1. Tailgate at the Football Games!

We are the driest college campus in East TX, but tailgating is the ONLY place and time when you can drink on campus! Crazy huh!?

2. (Speaking of Drinking...) Big Ass Glass Night!

WILD OUT on Wednesday nights at Bullfrogs with a Big Ass Glass! You have to be a part of the 21 & up club to enjoy this tradition, but you get to fill up a nice-sized glass with some booze! #CollegePerks

3. Battle of the Piney Woods

What's tailgating without a football game!? This is THE GAME you must attend every year against our arch rival, Sam Houston. We play in the amazing NRG Stadium and the seats you get are are worth hundreds of dollars. #GoodDeal #SFAWillWin

4. Live in a super nice Residence Hall

Most SFA students live on campus at some point, so why not do so in style!? If you're a Freshmen, Lumberjack Landing is the spot. Upperclassmen - Lumberjack Village or Lodge is the place to be! #Housing #OnCampusLiving #ExpensiveButConvenient

5. Visit The Shack or Anex

College Nights on Thursdays! So much ratchetness goes on at The Anex and the Shack (like the picture above), but it's fun with a group of friends! Unfortunately, they close at 1am on Saturdays :(

6. Concert at Banita Creek Hall

If you're a country music lover and own a pair of boots, then this is your place! Artists such as Josh Abbott Band, Aaron Watson, and Tracy Lawrence have performed here! Practice your 2-steppin' and come on out!

7. Chilly Fillmore's!

I was not a fan of Fro-Yo until I discovered this place. Chilly Filly's is one of the coolest places in Nac and they switch out flavors each week. #SoManyToppings #RewardsProgram

8. Themed Frat Party

Almost every social Fraternity has a themed party during the year (Phi Delt's - Phiesta, Alpha's - Spotlight, Sigma Chi's "Cinco De Drinko", etc.). Be there or #BeLame.,

9. Driving Jacks

10. Enjoy a Snow Day! (It's Rare)

During my 4 years at SFA, it snowed twice in Nacogdoches. Those 2 days were definitely unforgettable! If you get this opportunity, use it wisely! Go to Homer Bryce Stadium and have a snowball fight with your friends or take a bin from a plastic tub and slide down the hills.

11. Meet Baker Pattillo

Meet the legend that our awesome student center is named after, Dr. Baker Pattillo! You may find him walking across campus from time-to-time, so be sure to speak!

12. Go to the Blueberry Festival

This is a MUST if you spend your summer in Nacogdoches. The festival is your chance to buy items from cool vendors downtown, while enjoying some delicious blueberries.

13. Road Trip to an away game (Esp. Men's Basketball)

Our athletic teams deserve as much as support as they can get, so why not travel to root them on!? Gather a group of friends and road trip to Natchitoches, Houston, or Huntsville to support our Jacks

14. Visit The Donut Palace at 4am

After of a LONG night of partying or studying, it's a good feeling to get some fresh donuts and kolaches into your system. One trip to the donut palace at 4am and I can almost promise you it won't be your last time there!

15. Go to a Probate

Every college student should experience what's it like to attend a new member showcase aka probate! At SFA, greek organizations under the Multicultural Greek Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council are the one's who host probates. The most interesting part (arguably) the reveal of the new members.

16. Homecoming Bonfire & Concert

Homecoming has always been special at SFA. The APO built bonfire and SAA-booked concert will kick start a memorable weekend, so don't miss out! :)

17. Participate in Jacks Charge

One of the newest tradition's at SFA, Jacks Charge allows students to run on the field prior to kickoff. It's quite the adrenaline rush, so give it a try! :)

18. Lake Tonkawa

Popular place to visit around holidays (Labor day, 4th of July, etc..), Lake Tonkawa is fun alternative to Lake Nac. Bring some friends, a few dollars for admission, and get ready to have some fun!

19. The BIG EVENT

20. Jack Camp!

This should be mandatory for Freshmen. Jack Camp is by far one of the BEST traditions and a fun way to begin college. It's an easy way to meet your next best-friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, or just network. (I met my roommate here!) P.S. it's at Camp Olympia! :D

21. Visit the Involvement Center
