Friendly Reminder Of Appropriate Behavior At Theme Parks

It's that time of the year again. Many thrill-seekers will flock to various theme parks around the globe since the nicer weather is upon us. I just wanted to share a few friendly tips to keep not only the guests happy but employees as well.

First rule of business is to plan your trip a few days in advance. Purchase tickets online, print them out, remember to grab them from the printer and keep them protected. You may also want to check the weather for the day of your visit. Some parks may offer a refund only after a certain amount of time has passed due to inclement weather. If rides are inoperable for a couple of hours, you may receive vouchers to return. Remember, the guest relations department is happy to help. They know you're having a rough day but it's not up to them to make the decisions, it's the upper management. They can resolve most of the issues you may have but acting nasty or inappropriate won't help your cause.

When you plan ahead of time, please check out the rules and guidelines of the park you're visiting. Many locations will ask that you not wear bathing suits where there is no swimming/water areas. Proper attire is required and enforced. There should be no inappropriate images or words on clothing as there are many young people. The more butts hanging out and f-bombs all over the place, the trashier the park gets. Check for designated smoking areas, don't light up a cigarette where ever and whenever you want. One reason for smoking in certain spots is it's not safe to just do it anywhere. Keep it contained, keep it safe.

A big rule to follow is to be respectful to costumed characters and actors. They are friendly and approachable but remember, there is a human being inside. DO NOT PICK THEM UP. DO NOT PUSH THEM. DO NOT SMACK THEIR HEADS. You can get thrown out of the park for doing anything to them. Just say hello, take a picture and keep playing in the park. They are there to entertain, not to be a punching bag. There could be employees under 18 years of age and if they get hurt because you're being a dumbass, that is considered child abuse and assault. The police will be called and you will have a terrible day.

The final piece of advice I'd like to offer is, don't be stupid. Have some common sense when visiting a park. You might think it's obvious, but it's really rare to see people act in a respectful manner. Throw your trash away in the garbage cans, not the ground. If you want a picture taken, don't give an employee all five phones/cameras; just take one and share, it's not that hard. Harassing and making fun of employees is the absolute worst thing you can do. Why in the world would you want to ruin someone's day by being a bully? Just go on the rides and play games, that's all you're there for.

There are so many more suggestions that could be listed but I am hopeful you'll understand right from wrong. Theme parks will drain your whole day, please be prepared and it'll go a lot smoother. Be cool and you'll have a good time. If you act like an idiot, there will be consequences.
