1. When Shelby (Julia Roberts) talks about having children with her soon-to-be husband Jackson (Dylan McDermott), after finding out she shouldn't have kids due to her battle with diabetes.
2. And when she apologizes to her mom M'Lynne (Sally Field) for her behavior when she fell into a hypoglycemic state.
3. Then later, when Shelby begs for her mom's support after revealing that she's pregnant.
4. When hairstylist Truvy (Dolly Parton), her assistant Annelle (Daryl Hannah), and their clients Clairee (Olympia Dukakis) and Ouiser (Shirley MacLaine) show M'Lynn their support after she explains why she's not excited about Shelby's pregnancy.
5. And when we see Shelby was able to have a beautiful blond baby boy!
6. But the happy tears only last for so long because then we learn Shelby's not doing well, but her mom is coming to her rescue (and is super casual about it).
7. And when we breathe a sigh of relief with Jackson and Shelby's dad — and M'Lynne's husband — Drum (Tom Skerritt), when the doctor says the transplant went well.
8. But the tears of joy end when Jackson returns home to find a mess in the kitchen, Jack Jr. crying and pointing outside, and then, his wife unconscious on the patio.
9. And when Shelby lands in the hospital, but M'Lynn is there by her side every second, singing...
10. Bringing her pictures of her son...
11. And making sure her daughter knows she's there, no matter what.
12. But it's not enough and then Jackson signs the forms to take her off life support.
13. And when this nurse presses that FUCKING button.
14. And this other one takes out the FUCKING tubes.
15. Then when Jackson says his good-bye with a kiss.
16. And when, even after she flatlines...
17. ...M'Lynn is still there holding her hand.
18. When M'Lynn finally lets go and starts talking about business (and Shelby's favorite color).
19. And when she is comforted by the smiling face of her daughter's only child.
20. When Truvy, wearing all black, closed her salon for what felt like the first time.
21. When, at the funeral, M'Lynn was the last person standing over Shelby's casket.
22. And when Truvy, Annelle, Clairee, and Ouiser supported her once again.
23. When Shelby's funeral flowers were blush and bashful, not pink and pink.
24. When Truvy shed a single tear.
25. And when even Ouiser got choked up.
26. When M'Lynn felt blessed to see Shelby enter and leave the world.
27. And when she couldn't help but be angry.
28. When Annelle told M'Lynn she would help carry on Shelby's name.
29. And finally, when Clairee told Jack Jr. a fairy tale about his mother and we realized Shelby would live forever in the ladies' beautiful memories.
