4 Of The Most Eye-Opening Music Videos Of 2014

As the end of the year approaches, we take a look back at some of the music videos that gave us all of the feels.

    4. I'm Not The Only One- Sam Smith

While listening to this song without having seen the video one would imagine that the cheater in this case is a female but Sam Smith had us fooled by that sexy, sultry voice. The actors and actresses in this video not only do an exceptional job (bathroom scene anyone?) but paired with the other elements of the story, it almost feels as if we are watching something that is actually happening. The look of pain in the eyes of our main character is enough to make anyone think twice before cheating and if that's not maybe the thought of your significant other burning your clothes is?

    3. Pretty Hurts- Beyoncé

The queen Bey shows us some of the ugliness and pain that comes along with being pretty. While we all can see that, obviously, she is very pretty, in the video we see her being frowned upon because of her weight and other attributes and her struggle to become what she was told is pretty. Some of the more eye opening parts of the video include Bey purging to make herself lose weight, one of her fellow competitors being shown as looking very emaciated, and that same competitor eating a cotton ball soaked in orange juice (which has been said to be a dangerous diet trend among teenage girls and models).

    2. You & I (Nobody in the World)- John Legend

We all come in different shapes, colors, and sizes. In this video we are shown that our individuality makes us beautiful. Weather it has to do with our culture, the way we choose to look, the activities we enjoy, the changes that our bodies go through during and after pregnancy, or even our bodies being changed by circumstances beyond our control; at the end of the day we are all human and there is absolute beauty in every single one of us.

    1. Hozier- Take Me To Church

Technically this video was released in 2013 but it has gained a lot of popularity after Hozier performed on The Late Show in 2014. I don't even know where to begin with this one. Like the others, this song is very beautifully written and performed but I feel "Take Me To Church" stands out far above the others. The video invokes so many different, fiery emotions which will leave you reeling. I could say a lot more but I believe this alluringly written and performed video and song speak for themselves. I bet you can't watch just once.
