One of the risks of taking on someone else violently is that they may be better armed than you.
Is that your counter-argument?
Guns defend lives, save lives and protect the 1st Amend. In the right hands, of course, guns are not only smart but required.
Ok, then the far more irresponsibly handled tool of death by volume should determine whether or not we should have access to it? Outlaw cars.
And anti-gun advocates always ignore the other causes of death that are far more deadly: cars. And they tend to ignore how much larger America is than the entirety of EU. And they tend to ignore that the 2d Amend exists, was specifically crafted, to protect the 1st Amend. I promise you, without the 2d, the 1st will evaporate almost overnight. Because when the government, any administration of any kind, realizes it has nothing left to fear from its constituents, it will take more and more away from them. And disarming the most vulnerable, women, able elderly and able disabled, the most victimized groups anywhere, is to spit on their rights, to dismiss them as unimportant. Is that what you think?
Had Costas brought up domestic violence instead, I would join you in applauding him. But he and Whitlock chose to attack a Constitutional Right that easily half the nation will not give up without a bloody fight. Belcher could not cope and that is what made him make bad decisions, not the gun. He could have easily strangled his gf and jumped off a bridge, both of which are just as immediately accessible as anything else. Would anyone have written anything about banning hands and bridges? No, this is politics and Costas and Whitlock both showed poor timing, at least.
And cars, knives, lamps, crow bars, wrenches, baseball bats, rocks, etc., etc. Humans can make a weapon out of anything, even just balled up fists. Look up one punch homicides. A gun is a paperweight until a human picks it up, points it and pulls the trigger. Blaming the tool is like being mad at the skillet for frying eggs. Costas is blaming what is much easier to control than human nature. It’s a classic mistake all of us make rather than looking in the mirror. Besides, I prefer my mom have a gun to defend herself when she’s alone in the house against any unarmed man who might show up to hurt her. Killing the 2d Amend. would immediately disarm her, the able disabled and able elderly. I’d rather change the age of privilege of driving moved up to 18, that alone would save hundreds of thousands of lives. Oh, but wait for all the screaming to start.
Using what criteria would the PD use to send the photo out so highly edited, so artistically stylized? I don’t think the PD dispensed the photo this way, I think the media is trying hard to throw suspicion off of themselves right away. The media does have a reason to depict the bad guy the way they want to because that’s how they started out depicting him. Then they do what they always do: back-pedal when more facts actually emerge. They pretend they never scape goated anyone and hope that no one will remember what they did. Typical. Never trust the first reports of anything. Never.
If you mean Zimmerman, I tend to as well, but I won’t decide for sure until more facts emerge.
That has not been established, only rumored. Don’t just cling to old conclusions made on wrong and incomplete info. Maybe you think you could duke it out with an unarmed 6 ft tall, 160lb teen male, maybe you are a teen male and think you’re that badass and exercise mature and thoughtful judgment (yeah, right, cos that’s what teen males are famous for), but you are not who was there in the confrontation. Let’s wait and see what else we learn.
An unarmed teen boy is as dangerous as a gun, and I would argue more so: because a human male can choose to become deadly in a blink, a gun cannot. I continue to wait for all the facts to emerge in court, however.
Not surprising at all. I remember when early pictures of the back of his head were edited to minimize the severity of the wounds and clearly it was done to this photo as well. I don’t think the police edited this pic, the media outlets did, so it would better fit their narrative. Remember how OJ was “darkened” on the cover of Time to make it more compelling, shall we say? Early reports of any crime are always wrong, and everyone who clings to the way the media mischaracterized this event in the first hours and days do so because it fits their politics. Zimmerman is another minority btw, so all of you who refuse to consider him innocent until proven guilty, by the courts, are racists and xenophobes right when it matters the most. And I bet that’s the last thing you would ever think of yourselves. Noooo, it’s never you….
The horse collar was a bad call by the ref. Hair pulling is legal in football, not sure about b-ball. This is the reason long hair is a bad idea strategically. It’s why it isn’t allowed in the military.
LMFAO!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeee! It’s absolutely hilarious to watch those who worship BO come UNhinged at the sight of the exact same thing done to a figurine of a different man, worshipped by billions. Seriously kids?! Really?! Who knew it would be this easy. C’mon you guys, get a grip.
I didn’t hear any reports of him trying to hang on to his job. Usually when someone vacates such an office so quickly, it’s because they genuinely resigned.
“I’ve covered him for seven years now, and he’ll always have my respect and twisted admiration. ” LOLOLOLOL Oh is THAT what this piece is, LOL, uh, suuuuuuure it is. BTW, when admiration becomes twisted, it stops being admiration.
What is up with BF commenting these days? I can see my comments on my Feed but not in the comment thread of the post. I haven’t seen heart/broken-heart votes for way longer, like someone else mentioned at another post. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Now can we agree Islam needs reform? Still think the poor Muslims are picked on just because they’re brown or other or because 20 of its followers killed 3000 people in one day? Or is their homophobia somehow exempt from the hate doled out to the Christians and Jews? Can’t wait to see some anti-Islam protestors paint their faces like East End tarts, dressed like mullahs, with dildo lollipops. Oh wait…
I have a ton of blank CDs that will never get used, thanks to the memory sticks.
Oh, I forgot to add: the moonbats are just jealous they didn’t convert him to their belief system instead. What?! Another one got past our Christ-dar?! OOOOPS! You can’t win ‘em all. Now you will use your favorite weapon to get rid of him: keep him from ever working in this town again. At least he didn’t do anything to you, like flip the bird at your granddad’s grave, like Lindsey Stone did. But I bet if he got himself fired for revealing the show’s producers were conservatives, well suddenly that would be different.
Hey, he’s entitled to believe what he believes, just like all of us are entitled to. I’ve worked more than a few jobs that I wish I could have spared others from experiencing. Besides, he’s right, the show sucks on so many levels.
I wish I could put this past him. That said, how do we know his account wasn’t hacked? That said, I bet that’ll be the story from his PR team any second now. Rihanna needs to be the role model for girls she needed.
BF is broken. Waaa. No can see Heart/Broken Hearts, no can see comments except on My Feed, no can see LOL/WIN votes, no can see replies… sigh.
If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with.
That was wicked awesome. While the honeys are bodacious, my troops rock.
I hearted your comment too because I thought it was my browser misbehaving. Glad/sorry to see I’m not alone. What’s the deal BF? May I suggest the Cracked’s system? Unlimited Likes but limited Dislikes, which keeps the haterating trollies from turning it into Digg.
Oh, his appearance on Leno before an entire audience of my super fantastic military volunteer service members, and they all were clearly so amped by it, made me smile. And then when Psy smiled at the end of his set, I could tell, he dug it too. So my smile lingered for a beat….
Psy is a natural at cool. Now if I could just find an English ebonics version of the Korean lyrics—not written by a Korean—I’d be somewhat less depressed. I don’t hate the Bieber, c’mon, he’s just a kid, but Gaga is boring beyond measure. It would be awesome for Psy to hit the billion mark first—immediately followed by Baby. Just for the lulz. LOL *oppan kungnum sty*
FTW. If you want garlic or whatever in the mashed potatoes, make your own tomorrow. You cannot make a proper sandwich for breakfast with frou-frou potatoes.
LOL #3 and #5 are my favorites. I worry for his safety so I hope he has really good security.
If my fridge door does not have a bottle of it there, I feel unfulfilled.
My heart vote isn’t “yeah!” it’s “i’m sad with you”… it’s very painful to say goodbye to them, very..
Phuq my eyes are watering… and my heart is aching for her and her beloved… she’s right of course, dogs love us far better than we deserve. If I were a ticket holder, I’d be honored to redeem it later when she is ready. If it is Janet’s time, we all know, if there is a heaven, all dogs go there, waved right in, no questions asked, rightly so. I’ve never bought her music, but I will now.
See what I mean about a grudge. Oy vey. And, the 1967 borders are not defensible. The current borders are barely so, obviously.
Sigh… which is why I continue to support a straight, tall, solid wall between the two people. Then they can never see each other. So, out of sight, out of mind. It works. Not an enclosing wall, a straight wall, cleaving the two apart, that’s all. I once said “there should be a wall between them” to a co-worker years ago, and she actually thought I meant something like the Berlin Wall. I was so stunned when she said so to me I couldn’t say anything. So she walked away thinking that that was what I was thinking and I never got a chance to say “No, you moron, I of course do not mean like THAT and why would you think THAT of me anyway?!”) Now, if Hamas would stop picking fights, and really mean it when they say “we’ll cease fire” and really mean it when they say “we want peace” and make motions that are peace-making in form and color, then we’d get somewhere a whole lot faster. But it would seem Hamas is not inclined toward compromise. Neither was Arafat, so, they don’t have any good role models in that regard. I am not optimistic. I know, I know, so many think only Israel should make compromises, with those who liken them—actually hurl this comparison at them to inflict maximum pain and insult—to Nazis in their comportment toward Palestinians—wow, if only more people knew. But Israel is always in an existential fight. Always. Without relief. But I guess there are still just a bit too many people who hate the Jews because they killed Jesus. Talk about holding a grudge….
Well, he and Netanyahu are not exactly chummy. I suspect he is moderating his stance because he didn’t win by a landslide, he squeeked back into office. He knows that the other half of the country cannot be ignored if he wishes to not be reduced to an early lame duck.
Oy. Corrections to my comment above: “Islam and Judaism”, “religions that do not bless”, and “Christians get it in the shorts.” I guess I was in a rush.
Teeny toe shoes for feet. How do such itty bitty critters survive on this big bad world?
