Nobody likes anybody that exposes our reality. Our whole lives are driven by our subconscious need to fill the void that gives us a feeling of lack and the desire to gain. Why else do you think we are driven to make more money, get more things, horde? Nobody follows sports because they love the athleticism or the pure enjoyment of competition. They follow it to be able to have that feeling of being better, for the shear emotion of being elevated by defeating the other guy. The money behind sports is just another way to fill the void, that empty space within us all. Money gets us better coaches, better players, better equipment - all to give us that sense, albeit a false sense, of accomplishment, of defeating the other guy. Defeating our opponent gives us a sense of superiority which only covers up our fear of being having less.
