Which States Have The Worst Health Insurance Gender-Rating?
Barack Obama made a map to show you!
The POTUS tweeted this map today, which illustrates just how much more the average 25-year-old woman pays for health insurance in each state. The worst offenders are Arkansas and Wyoming, the only two states where women pay on average 76 to 100 percent more than their male peers.
The Affordable Care Act (or “Obamacare”) is currently being debated in the Supreme Court. If it survives and is enacted in 2014, this pay gap — termed “gender-rating” — will be outlawed.

Foozlesprite a year agoI live in AR and people wonder why I only go to the doctor when I’ve lost a limb…Only recently got insurance, and hadn’t been to the doctor in about 10 years (I’m 23). I still need to get used to being able to afford to go. I was sick for about a month, working in frozen/dairy coolers, before I went to the doctor and realized I had pneumonia. Had to take a week of medical leave to recover. Thank the heavens for insurance. Ideally we’d live in a country where nobody had to have insurance, and health insurance was affordable regardless, but that’s not the way it is. To see people trying to undo any and all provisions of the Affordable Care Act is very saddening.
