What Has Perpetuated the Hook-Up Culture on College Campuses?
“Hooking up” has undoubtedly replaced the concept of dating on college campuses and has become a main component of social life. Analysis on the hook up culture shows how influences such as media/technology, social life, and gender roles have perpetuated the subculture in the United States. This subculture is becoming increasingly ubiquitous and causes social pressures among college students. Being aware of this is interesting and relatable, especially being a college student myself; we are currently driving society. These behaviors are important to address since it seems to be so prevalent in this generation and undeniably has its consequences for many young adults – both emotionally and physically. This norm has fairly recently emerged, and is most likely not simply a phase that will pass soon.
