5 Reasons Condi Rice Shouldn't Be On The College Football Playoff Selection Committee

It's not that Condi only knows "what someone told her" about football. Rice has been a football fan since childhood, but she's also been a Cleveland Browns fan that entire time. As a Clevelander myself, I can confirm that what the Browns play isn't actually football, it's a disastrous comedy of errors that only results in depression and failure.

2. She makes sportswriters say stupid things

Sure, it's not Condi's fault that ESPN's David Pollack made an ass out of himself by saying that women should be totally excluded from the selection committee. But if she hadn't been chosen, then Pollack probably wouldn't have said something so blatantly stupid, and then we wouldn't have to spend all this time discussing the ridiculous question of whether or not a vagina precludes you from being a football expert.

3. Her day job doesn't rely on the committee's decisions

Do you know what Jeff Long, Barry Alvarez, Dan Radakovich, and Pat Haden all have in common? That's right, they all could make a lot more money by sending their own programs to the playoffs! Sure, they'll probably recuse themselves from the proceedings if their program is actually under debate, but you know they'll be fighting extra hard in the backrooms to get the money for their next beach house. Since Condi's paycheck isn't tied to Stanford Football's success, she probably won't even bother to make any underhanded deals on her team's behalf! What a shame.

4. She's going to make the other committee members feel unimpressive

It's the first day of the committee and everyone's just getting to know each other. Archie Manning and Oliver Luck are bragging about their kids. Jeff Long, Pat Haden, Barry Alvarez, and Dan Radakovich are dropping subtle hints about how great their teams are this year. And Then Condoleezza chimes in with a story about how everyone thinks she should run for president, and the whole room goes silent as they realize just how overqualified she is for this job. It's awkward.

5. She doesn't admit her mistakes

Yeah, I'm playing the Iraq card, because the stakes here are just as high. Look, sometimes the best evidence you have is wrong, and you end up sending some mid-major to the playoffs because you hear that they "love throwing bombs." But is Rice still going to be defending that decision ten years later, when literally everyone admits it was wrong? Signs point to yes.
