13 Reasons Why You Should See Health Sci Musical 2014's "TEH HEALTH SCI GAMES!"

In the not-too-distant future, BHSc is in danger of receiving a scathing review from the premier education publication in Canada, MacLearns Magazine. MacLearns deems that BHSc students are smart, but not well-rounded. Our Dean begs to differ. To show MacLearns just how round our students are, the Dean devises a Tournament that will showcase BHSc students in new and daring ways. Who will be the champion? What will students sacrifice on the path to perfection? Will your peer tutors ever stop answering your questions with questions? Find the answers to all that and more in Health Sci Musical 2014!

13. Health Sci Musical's 7th production

Is seven your lucky number? This is HSM's 7th production in the BHSc program, and what a legacy it has been.

12. Triwizard Tournament + the Hunger Games

This year's musical finds Health Sci in its first ever all-year tournament, Teh Health Sci Games. Think of it as a combination of Harry Potter's Triwizard Tournament and the Hunger Games, but with more keeners.

Teh Health Sci Games sweeps BHSc in year 2050, BHSc's 50th anniversary. What will our program look like then?

10. Features a phenomenal cast and chorus

These Health Scis will transform on stage into their Classes of 2050 alter-egos. From overzealous 1st years to future-frightened 4th years, the many stereotypes of BHSc will be highlighted and defied by these talented performers. They can sing and dance, too!

9. The band is fantastic!

HSM is known for its great musicians, and this year is no exception. Six violins, two cellos, two on guitar/bass, two on piano, three flutes, three clarinets, three alto saxes, two trumpets, two trombones, and percussion make up our HSM Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Vanessa. All musical accompaniment comes from them, HSM is a no-karaoke-track zone!

8. Bring out your inner musical theatre geek

HSM 2014 features songs from great musical productions like Book of Mormon, Newsies, Les Misérables, Matilda: The Musical, Rent, and Next to Normal. Lyrics, arrangements, accompaniment, and harmonies brought to your by your very own BHSc students!

4. All proceeds go to charity!

The money raised this year will be split between the Bachelor of Health Sciences

Scholarship, a scholarship for BHSc students that rewards academic excellence and community involvement, and the Stand Up Theatre Company, a grass-roots, non-profit organization dedicated to granting underprivileged youth in Hamilton valuable theatre and dance opportunities. Our support for these initiatives reflects our advocacy for the role of the arts in improving and transforming lives. Last year, we raised over $6000 dollars for our charities. This year we hope to exceed that amount!

As always, Health Sci Musical is put on entirely by BHSc students. Exec hiring and script writing starts right after the show finishes, auditions in September, and rehearsals every Sunday until the show. So "TEH HEALTH SCI GAMES" is the culmination of 12 months of work.
