7 Reasons Anti-Bullying Campaigns Are Stupid & Uncool

All the celebrity anti-bullying campaigns make people feel good that they're doing "something" to stop bullying. Heck, there are even PowerPoint presentations in school about it! But disagree politically with a celebrity, politician or the media, and all their anti-bullying message is quickly exposed for what it is - a feel good measure that does nothing to stop bullying. And no one can figure out why bullying never ends. Weird, right?

Ted Cruz is evil!

Though he has yet to call someone names in response, this past week Ted Cruz has been called a terrorist, anarchist, the devil and worse by political opponents hoping most voters only read headlines and don't read further. His crime? Not being afraid to call out career politicians who work for their own greed and not for WE THE PEOPLE, you know, their bosses.

Sarah Palin is also evil!

When Sarah Palin came on the scene in 2008, she didn't sound like every other politician. She was immediately attacked so vehemently by the media, one would assume she was calling people names, bullying them or worse. Turns out, all those women's groups that stick up for women's rights don't think Sarah Palin deserves defending. Some of those groups even attack her themselves.The media, politicians and celebrities continue bullying her and her family with their harsh words today. All of those anti-bullying campaigns? They might make you feel "good" but they immediately evaporate the second a celebrity forgets what they preach to everyone else so they can attack someone who has a different belief system.

Do as they say, not as they do. PLEASE, not as they do.

Like the cool kids in high school, whenever there is a cause that gets lots of media attention, celebrities are all on board to lend their face, voice and support. They get involved because all the cool kids are doing it. But the second someone disagrees with them politically, they forget all their "don't hate" advice and attack others for having different beliefs. Some celebrities who hawk offensive, vulgar and over-the-top movies, music and television, suddenly start starring in kids movies once they become parents, horrified at the thought their kids might see something untoward. Strange how it's okay to sell that rubbish to your kids, but not to theirs, right? It's funny they still can't figure out why people would rather they keep their opinions to themselves. Not because they don't have a right to their opinion. But because voicing that opinion or their vulgar trash can alienate the audience they want to buy their products.

Let's DO SOMETHING!

We tell kids not to bully, and then everything they see on social media or in the news shows celebrities, politicians and the media attacking others by calling them names or laughing at their beliefs. Hypocrisy, much?

Congress, Schmongress.

The approval rating for politicians is so low, soon pollsters are going to have to stop polling all together because it's so embarrassing. It's funny to hear politicians acknowledge that WE THE PEOPLE just want them to get along and do some work down there in the bubble of DC. They usually acknowledge how much Americans dislike them, right before they go off on a diatribe calling an opponent names or accusing them of something terrible (like disagreeing).

When something terrible happens in America, these same politicians immediately blame their opponents for using harsh rhetoric that caused the horrible event. We wouldn't want to blame the perpetrator...right? Or perhaps revisit our mental health issues in America? Nope. That might solve a problem and rob our politicians of the light of TV cameras (they're the opposite of vampires...they LOVE the lights!)

It's a cycle that never stops and yet they can't figure out why no one trusts them to do any work. If they'd stop talking and start working, maybe some of their ridiculous rhetoric will stop? Not likely.

Turn the Other Cheek

Those that aren't fans of football probably only know of the name Tim Tebow because the media attention on him is always over-the-top. Seems odd to know that he's religious, but the media coverage about his religious beliefs is so saturated, you'd think he was attacking those who don't believe like he does. Most on-the-field interviews after an NFL game or touchdown you hear the same words by most NFL players, "I'd like to first thank God Almighty..." but for some reason Tebows' religion is so important that you know about it even if you don't know a darn thing about football. What message does that send to the kids watching football? Don't be different. Don't believe different or you will become the center of attention for your beliefs. Great!

Thank a soldier, not a journalist.

Our soldiers, who are not able to use their hard-fought right to free speech while they are serving, sacrifice their lives in order for each of us to have the right to FREE SPEECH here in America. Imagine how it must be for them to watch our politicians spewing the same hateful rhetoric they are fighting against in far away lands to help oppressed people there? Free speech is the right of everyone in America because of the sacrifice of our soldiers and their families. They are not props or photo ops. They are fighting hard to keep us free from enemies that wish to shut down freedom of speech, thought and religion. Shouldn't we think about that before we attack someone in America for having different beliefs than we do?
