When the Toledo Police Department's SWAT team asked ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital if they could rappel down the sides of the hospital dressed as superheroes they didn't just say yes, they made the story ten times better.
Working with local television station WTOL-TV, the hospital concocted a plot ripped from the pages of a comic book. A staged newscast informed the children that Professor Trickster (played by the news station's chief meteorologist) had stolen the city's Halloween treats to power his weather machine, once again bringing chaos to a region still reeling from last year's Polar Vortex.
The news anchor begged the children watching to signal the world's superheroes for help with their glow sticks…
…And sure enough…
The SWAT team members, dressed as some of Marvel and DC Comics' biggest stars, emerged from the hospital's air ambulance, ready to take on the Professor and his evil plot.
The 12 superheroes, including Batman, Captain America, Thor and Wolverine, rappelled down the nearly 10-storey building as children pressed their noses to the glass at every floor.
The stunt caused minor traffic jams near the hospital, as onlookers stopped their cars along the hospital's parkway to watch the scene unfold.
Meanwhile, Spiderman decided to show off, rappelling the entire height of the building upside-down.
In the end, the SWAT team brought Professor Trickster to justice, foiled his plot to steal the city's Halloween treats, and brought smiles to the faces of the ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital children.
