Something amazing happened for the culture. The unity of the Caribbean & Popular tweets might seem like small things depending on who you are but if you are anything like me, you know what a feat that can be. What started off as one West Indian Twitter User's rant, developed into a W.I vs Them exhibition as all the islands joined together to "Rally roun' the West Indies" using twitter & 140 characters as a vehicle. Below are some of the most memorable tweets of the night & the story behind it.

When a controversial misinformed tweet floated across the t/l by a twitter user who many believe did not have authority on the matter, it sparked the rant that turned into the most caribbean unity witnessed in a long time. (of course we are using the social media scale to judge this)

The "ignorant" tweet caused this twitter user to start a rant about who is really considered Caribbean & Cultural Appropriation etc (it ends in unity, I promise)

After the rant the twitter user started prefacing tweets with "u so caribbean but", the user listed things they determined indigenous to people who grew up in the caribbean, as the tweets gained in popularity a hashtag #YouSoCaribbeanBut was created & the unity began as all islands chimed in, creating a collective of requirements to hold a Caribbean Passport.

By the end of the night twitter users from all over the Caribbean were pleased with what took place, hopefully "Island Wars" will be replaced with more unity in 2016?

It's amazing because when we unite the caribbean can be a powerhouse..so many tweets with hundreds of rts that may not have happened without everyone involved, coming together makes us stronger...ask your self how many rts you'd have if they could only come for your island?
