During a newspaper deliveryman strike in 1945, New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia comforted the city’s comics-deprived children by reading the adventures of Dick Tracy and Little Orphan Annie on the radio. In a recording from July 15, 1945, we hear him reading about Little Orphan Annie being on trial for murder.
