I’m just wondering what the heck this has to do with Kia?

Whether this is promoting pedophilia or not doesn’t change the fact that in the bottom left picture, it looks like the teacher has an erection.

Kia Motors America (KMA) has become aware of an offensive piece of advertising material that was created by an ad agency in Brazil that KMA has no business relationship with and has never worked with. We can guarantee this advertisement has never and will never be used in any form in the United States, and our global headquarters in Seoul, South Korea is addressing the issue with the independent Brazilian distributor.

Why this is perceived as “promoting pedophilia:” On one side of the ad it’s showing an adult male teacher helping his student after class. There’s nothing wrong with this, but when you look at the other side of the page you see the whole atmosphere change. Rather than a fitting “cutesy” style of art, it’s a sexy, raunchy, and more detailed style of art.  This makes it look like perhaps this is what the teacher/viewer is perceiving the situation to be like. So, even if it wasn’t intended to be seen as promoting pedophilia, it just /looks/ bad in the end. Another example of poor marketing (although the art is quite good).

Oh, please, since when were people really disturbed by the school girl fetish? I mean, you don’t have to dig it, but unless you were one of those moms against Britney Spears in the nineties and have no idea what goes on in the sex industry, this is pretty tame.

Nah. Its just a play on views of a normal teacher and an infatuated young student.

Bizarre to say the least… wouldn’t touch this with any kind of pole for promoting a product. It’s not pedophilia in any sense but the juxtaposition here is definitely going to disturb most of us. As a piece of art I would’ve called “genius” for pointing out the over-sexualization of girls in marketing.

Part of the problem as well is not understanding the advertising industry. Likely this was created as a proposal by one creative director or junior cd and was possibly never pitched to KIA. It can still be submitted for advertising awards though which it was.

You’d have to be a pretty sick puppy to think this “promoted pedophilia” in any way, shape, or form.

The panel on the right is the way the teacher is viewig the little girl. Notice that he doesn’t change much in age. A different climate on either side could be the way she sees it and the way he sees it.

I sort of love this, but I did have a major crush on an extremely hot 23-year-old teacher of mine when I was 16.

It’s not great,but it’s not promoting pedophilia, otherwise the panels on the right would feature a much younger looking girl. It’s simply taking a scenario of a student staying after and examining two situations: Disney-like kid friendly exchange to signify the cooler climate, and a more adult racier exchange to signal a warmer climate. The two girls are meant to be the same age, they’re just representations within a scenario. The ad could’ve been a lot better done, but it’s not pro-pedophilia really
