An unbroken horse unseats a gaucho during the Patria Gaucha Festival in Tacuarembo, 249 miles north of Montevideo, March 10, 2012. Gauchos from Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil gathered to compete in the horse-taming competition during the festival which celebrates the preservation of the country’s rural traditions and country life.
It doesn’t take years to ride a horse, but it does take patience and trust. A horse that trusts you will do anything for you. This is just sad and ignorant animal cruelty being labelled as tradition.
