Here’s one to add for you. I was 12, attacked by a German shepard police dog. The dog knew me since the day it was born as I adopted its brother. He ripped through my lip and there was a contusion on my head that came out about a half an inch. My nose was severely sprained along with black eyes, and this head trauma triggered what has now been a lifelong series of migraines. BECAUSE he was a police dog and owned by a cop we knew who was a drunk and disappeared with him after it happened, not only was this not reported on AT ALL, the dog was also never taken for the general 10 day observation. The dog was never put down and continued to work for the police department regardless of him showing how dangerous he really was. Did I mention that my mother literally had to kick him off of me multiple times in order for him to let go? So yes, while a pitbull attack is scary and sucks, it’s all media. To this day, I’m still terrified of German shepards (the one I had bit my little brother and we had to give him away) but I happily live with my boyfriends pitbull. Who happens to be my chiuauahs best friend.
