Switched to a credit union last year and it’s like night and day. It’s almost like banks don’t even want customers anymore.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch.  The banks were giving away the debit card service to customers because they were able to charge fees to the merchants. Then the big merchants lobbied Congress to make a law so the merchants wouldn’t have to pay. So now, thanks to Congress, the cost of a debit card will be paid directly by us, instead of by the merchants.

I don’t really understand this. Does this still apply to me if I process payments as credit using my debit card?
