    Newcastle Viral Hyperlapse

Newcastle in Motion is a viral hyperlapse that was filmed over the course of May 2014. It features the awesome song Busy Earnin' by Jungle. So sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful city that is Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Newcastle in Motion was filmed over the course of May 2014 and is the third instalment to my In Motion series. I wanted to explore Newcastle and Gateshead from its rooftops and capture the iconic skyline before moving down to the streets below. The quayside is a constant hub of activity and proved a dynamic area to time-lapse. From the Tyne bridge, built in 1925 and a symbol of Newcastle's industrial history, to the Sage, which is emblematic of the city's ongoing redevelopment and thriving tech start-up scene, the quayside is an architectural amalgamation of old and the new.

The film is comprised of more than 6,000 individual stills, chosen from more than 10,000 stills I shot while making it (almost 1tb of data). For more information about the hyperlapse technique I use, please see this article. I used a canon 5D mk III as well as a 6D with the help of a 17-40mm, 24-105mm, and 70-200mm Canon lenses. I also used LEE Big and Little Stopper ND filters as well as a few ND grads.

The previous hyperlapse in my series, Amsterdam in Motion, is below.
