The show's based on Patrick McHale's animated short film, Tome of the Unknown. McHale is also known for working on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Adventure Time.

Over the Garden Wall follows two step brothers, Wirt and Greg, as they navigate their way through a mysterious forest called, "The Unknown".

The two seem to get into quite a bit of trouble with things they encounter...

    and themselves.

Wirt and Greg also meet an elderly man named, "The Woodsman".

But not all beings they encounter are scary. They also meet Beatrice, a sassy bluebird who offers to help the boys find their way home.

And with that, the two boys and a bird, go through the forest, to find what they're looking for.

With catchy songs and eye catching animation, Over the Garden Wall keeps the mystery afoot, while keeping the audience engaged throughout the 10 part series.
