First we had motivators, then demotivators. Then this crap started coming around. Demotivators were clever ironic jokes such as a picture for Perseverence being Sisyphus with the subtitle being something about how the boulder will keep falling down. They were clever parodies of actual motivators. Then at some point somebody didn't get the joke and started just taking stupid pictures they like in a black frame, single or two-word titles and short subtitles underneath and completely fucking up the joke for those of us that actually understand irony, which, judging by how popular this meme has gotten, is disgracefully few. Is it still clever if you use a black frame from a poorly-written joke that's based on a complete bastardization of the original joke? Considering just how unfunny every off-model “demotivator” I've seen is, I'd say no. It's an attempt to be clever, and I suppose more clever than just saying “do the damn dishes” but there are better passive-agressive ways to send the message. Fuck these stupid “demotivators”. Fuck the idiots that don't understand irony, and fuck the people that keep making them when they just aren't funny. And fuck the people who think they're so funny they have to print them out, even if it is just to cut a hole in the middle to make their own real-life version.
