    1. Have Alice in Wonderland Afternoon Tea at the Richmond Tea Rooms.

    Based in Manchester, these lavishly decorated tea rooms have to be seen to be believed. Borrowing heavily from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, they're eclectic and ornate and totally wonderful. The Alice in Wonderland-themed menu has afternoon tea options for Alices, Mad Hatters and Red Queens, AND a snickers cake too.

    2. Recreate Lewis Carroll's journey down the river with the Liddell sisters with an Oxford River Cruise.

    Oxford was actually the birthplace of Alice. On a "golden afternoon" in 1862, Lewis Carroll went on a boat ride up the river with Alice Liddell and her sisters, and came up with the story to entertain them. Now, you can go on the exact same route they took, and be fed with Alice in Wonderland treats while you do it.

    3. Stay at Wonderland House.

    There's an Alice In Wonderland-themed hotel in Brighton and it is AMAZING. Like, properly amazing. It's one of the top ten movie-themed houses in the world, and has a 'Flamingo Dreams Room'. Who doesn't want to sleep in a flamingo dreams room? No one, that's who.

    4. Go for cakes and cat cuddles at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium.

    5. Wander through the British Library's Alice In Wonderland exhibition.

    Since the original, the story of Alice has been adapted and reimagined over and over (and over) again. And the British Library has mapped it all out, with an exhibition showcasing the different editions, Alice memorabilia and amazingly, the original manuscript from Lewis Carroll with hand-drawn illustrations. Most magical of all though? It's FREE.

    7. Watch Wonder.Land at The National.

    An updated take on Alice in Wonderland, this new musical at The National Theatre transcribes the tale into an online setting. Alice is an avatar in an online game. Visually it's completely spectacular – it's worth going for the Caterpillar costume alone.

    8. Browse through rare editions and memorabilia at Alice Through The Looking Glass.

    This is the mecca of all die-hard Alice fans. This is the shop that specialises in "Alice iconography" (yes, she is an icon). Go here to get your hands on some seriously pretty editions of the book, gifts, fashion and "unique objects of desire". Ooh matron.

    9. Complete the Alice Trail in Lyndurst.

    Lyndhurst should be on the map for any true Alice lover – it's where Alice Liddell, the little girl the book was based on, lived for most of her life. The town is rightly proud of its heritage, and has a really cool (probably depends on your definition of 'cool') Alice trail running through the town.

    10. Drink Alice in Wonderland Tea at Drink Shop & Do.

    11. Attend a Mad Hatters tea party at The Sanderson.

    The fanciest Alice in Wonderland afternoon tea out there is at The Sanderson hotel in London. The menus are hidden inside vintage books, all the crockery is JUST SO PRETTY and oh my gosh all the food is teeny tiny and so perfect. They even have their own Alice tea, with blackcurrant, vanilla, caramel, blue cornflowers and blue mallow flowers.

    12. Visit Alice Liddel's grave at Lyndhurst Church.

    13. Indulge in a Queen of Hearts Afternoon Tea at Madd Hatters.

    Tea > coffee. Fact. Which is why you need to go try the tea lattes at Madd Hatters STAT. They come in flavours like AmazeMint and Carnical Candy Floss, and can be enjoyed as part of the Queen of Hearts Afternoon Tea (HIGHLY recommend).

    14. Take a spin on the teacups at Bournemouth's Wonderland Theme Park.

    Ok, so, *technically* it's for kids. Technically. But if you have a child with you, you're totally free to wander through the Wonderland maze, explore the Cheshire Cat’s Castle of Adventure, and go down the Jabberwocky helter-skelter. Your niece has been looking like she needs an outing recently anyway.

    15. Visit the Alice Garden in Guildford.

    Guildford was where Lewis Carroll bought a house for his six sisters, and it's also where he wrote Alice Through The Looking Glass. You can now wander through the Alice Garden at Guildford Castle, which is home to a life-sized statue of Alice falling through the looking glass.

    16. Choose between the Eat Me or Drink Me menus at the Mad Hatter's Tea Rooms.

    The Mad Hatters tea room in Chester is a proper English tearoom with just the right amount of Wonderland touches. They won "Britain's Best Bakery" in 2014, and both their Drink Me and Eat Me menus are pretty fabulous. Tea and hot chocolates on one, and Cheshire Cat's cream tea on the other!

    17. Find the Jub Jub Bar at Callooh Callay.

    The name gives it away – there's more to this bar than meets the eye. Find the secret door to get into not one, but two secret bars, all with more fantastical cocktails than you can shake a stick at. It's like bar inception.
