8 Films You Should Be Looking Forward To At Sundance '14

In January, the epicenter of American culture is the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Here's what you should be looking forward to this year. If you're cultured, that is.

1. Camp X-Ray

Kristen Stewart attempts, yet again, to be taken seriously. In Camp X-Ray, she's a prison guard who forms an "unlikely friendship" with one of her detainees. Um, remember the last time Kristen formed an "unlikely friendship"? Yeah... that didn't go over so well.

2. The Foxy Merkins

You had us at "prostitute buddy comedy."

3. Wetlands

"Meet Helen Memel. She likes to experiment with vegetables while masturbating." This has been hailed as one of the most disgusting coming-of-age movies of all time. That's really saying something.

4. Infinitely Polar Bear

Mark Ruffalo wants you to know that he is NOT done playing the role of unconventional dad. In Infinitely Polar Bear, he consistently disappoints faithful wife Zoe Saldana with his inability to control his bipolar disorder. It sounds depressing, but get this: it's a comedy. Because nothing is funnier than a manic-depressive dad failing to care for his two little girls.

5. Ping Pong Summer

"That awkward, momentous time in your life when you're treated like an alien by everyone around you, even though you know deep down you're as funky fresh as it gets." Starring.... Susan Sarandon? O-kay.

6. Cooties

As always: If you look close enough, you just might see Elijah Wood. But this time is different. This time he's hunting down a mass of savages that are actually diseased elementary school kiddies.

7. Web Junkie

Internet addiction. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all have it, don't we? Not so fast. Apparently, in China, internet addiction is a clinical illness. And in Beijing, a rehab center exists where Chinese teenagers are "deprogrammed." This is not a sci-fi. This is a documentary.

8. I Origins

From the indie film tidal wave that is Brit Marling comes yet another mind-bending trip down the scientific rabbit hole: "A molecular biologist and his lab partner uncover startling evidence that could fundamentally change society as we know it." If anyone can pull off this premise, she can.
