Stage 1: Excitement

The minute you put the trip on your calendar and group text everyone who's going an article about DIY painted coolers you run to the mall and buy a new swimsuit to match each pair of sunglasses you own.

Stage 2: Determination

You and your friends make a pact to go to the gym every day, stop eating carbs and go on a juice cleanse. You know you can stick to it.

Stage 3: Denial

How could you not buy a croissant to go with your latte? You justified it by getting sugar free vanilla syrup in your tall drink when you usually order a grande. You can feel your stomach bloating under your too tight shirt you knew you shouldn't have worn today. You feel too fat and consider backing out of the trip altogether. Your friends think you've been working all winter for your toned summer bod. You can't disappoint them now.

Stage 4: The Final Stretch

You reward yourself for working out 4 days in a row with a drink, or two.. and you pack your bags with your bikinis, sunglasses, and of course, bro tanks. After that fresh bikini wax, a pedicure, and a spray tan you are ready to go!

Stage 5: YOLO
