It's no secret that, over the last few years, princesses of pop Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have been involved in a massive and seemingly ever-lasting feud.
It all started back in 2014, when Taylor gave an interview with Rolling Stone all about her ~new album~, 1989.
During the interview, Taylor said this of the ~unnamed female artist~ who was the inspiration behind "Bad Blood":
For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, "Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?" ... She did something so horrible. I was like, "Oh, we're just straight-up enemies." And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.
It was basically assumed by everyone in the entire world that Taylor was referring to Katy. And that was that. A feud was born.
Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing...
And in the last few months, since "Bad Blood" was released as a single, the feud between the two ladies has been widely accepted as cold, hard fact.
So when Taylor suggested in a recent interview with GQ that the song isn't actually about Katy at all, everyone was more than a little confused.
Because it looks like she's doing some serious backtracking. Talking about the interview with Rolling Stone, Taylor said this:
You're in a Rolling Stone interview, and the writer says, "Who is that song about? That sounds like a really intense moment from your life." And you sit there, and you know you're on good terms with your ex-boyfriend, and you don't want him – or his family – to think you're firing shots at him. So you say, "That was about losing a friend." And that's basically all you say. But then people cryptically tweet about what you meant.
