I agree with a lot, but not all. I must say, approaching parenthood while in student debt can’t be fun. Being a student while my children are babies and toddlers is what has truly afforded me the luxury of being a stay at home parent. By the time my kids are school aged, I will have just graduated and won’t go into repayment until after the huge expense of childcare (right now childcare costs more than college) is non-existent.  That said, yes, you need those kid-free experiences. Get your wild oats sewn first so you are ready, willing and eager to be the best parent you can be. About those parenting books…. Sure read them. Then take them with a grain of salt because parenting is something that can only be studied in theory. In practice, it’s a whole different ball game.
