The annual Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival, held in August, features both up-and-coming and major artists. For great music on any given night, head to The Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill or just about anywhere in the Mission.

You’ll inevitably do plenty of walking in the city, but for a change of pace, take advantage of the variety of urban hiking trails. Historic Trail starts at Stanyan and 17th and you’ll hardly feel like you’re smack dab in the city. For views of the Golden Gate and Pacific, hike Lands End, located at San Francisco’s northwest point.
