In case you weren’t aware, Bioware has come under the gun for the controversially cookie cutter ending options to their space opera, Mass Effect. In an attempt to add levity and humor to what some fans see as a betrayal of the story, Marauder Shields has become a martyr to the cause.

      Spoiler Alert: I don’t have a problem with the ending AS IS. Throughout the whole game I was sent on an emotional roller coaster, and I had a gut feeling this was going to end with his death, however don’t jump the gun. I’m not saying the ending was perfect and full of closure. I’m simply saying, as my Shepard I wanted to risk my life saving everyone and in a way I kind of did that. People had expectations because of promises Bioware made. The mistake people made was believing business to sell. It’s the end of the series. They could of made the ending like the Sopranos and still have gotten the money to cover budget and get a hefty bonus. Now that they’re discussing possible closure DLC. People probably won’t enjoy that. Lose, lose situation and no one sees this.

      I had no problem with the ending, but my favorite comment about that video so far was “He was trying to protect us from the ending.”

      I don’t understand how you can label the ending “cookie cutter”. Just the fact that people were complaining is proof that it isn’t cookie cutter enough.

      The amount of times I have had to say this… Go play Legacy of Kain. In that game, the oracle gave Kain the option of sacrificing his existence to save the world from vampires. Endings like this are rare and epic. People are just QQing because they didn’t get the happy ending they wanted.
