Both the arts and space exploration could use more funding to keep making awesome collaborations. Just sayin'.

Col. Chris Hadfield has done more to raise the profile of astronauts in a few short months than anyone else in years. Between recording the first original song in space to having a conversation with Captain Kirk to showing off day-to-day life aboard the Internnational Space Station, Hadfield is doing his part to reignite a love of space travel.

His most recent contribution is a song he co-wrote with Ed Robertson, "I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing). It's being described as the first space-to-earth musical collaboration and was recorded with help from the children's choir, the Wexford Gleeks.

Between 2009 and 2011 U2 had some astronauts pre-record verses during their 360 Tour but live music co-written by the commander of the ISS is a totally different animal. Sorry Bono.
