So so so sad.. :( Monkeys on chains, being used to elicit sympathy/curiosity to get money from tourists in third world countries. These monkeys should be swinging from trees and living in wild families. Saying that they are anything like dogs is stupid, dogs have been domesticated over thousands of years. Try releasing a teacup chihuahua into the wild and see how long it lasts. These monkeys are a different story, they’d be fine in the wild, they were probably born in the wild and caught and sold on the black market. Terrible and sad, what people do for entertainment. Almost as sad as the “dancing bears” with the rings through their noses. :(

this is terrible. my aunt and uncle live in indonesia and have seen some of the monkeys. they are terribly abused and forced into performing.

Seeing monkeys with a chain and a master makes me upset.

I agree with Rory, above. In India these monkeys are treated very poorly. Sometimes they
are spray painted to look like leopards and tigers. They suffer incredibly cruel abuse, and
are often starved into performing. If you’ve
ever seen one of these monkeys up close you can
see the fear and sadness in their eyes.
They do not perform these tricks happily.
