Earlier this week, Jimmy Fallon announced that there will be a show on Spike TV based on the lip sync battles that have been growing in popularity on The Tonight Show. It all started with Stephen Merchant and Joseph Gordon Levitt delivering stellar performances and reached spectacular levels with Emma Stone's performance of "All I Do is Win." Other participants include Paul Rudd and The Voice judges Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.
This is sure to be fun, but let's not forget Lip Service, the lip sync battle show of the '90s on MTV that was hosted by Jay Mohr and later by John Ales. The show had teams going through various rounds of lip syncing that included a unrehearsed medley of songs and a full out performance with choreography complete with the latest fashions from Union Bay, Merry Go Round, Miller's Outpost, and J. Riggins.
I'm sure Fallon's new lip sync game show is going to be fun, but will it give us entertainment like this?
Or guys in sleeveless shirts singing K7's classic, "Come Baby Come"?
Also, Dr. Joyce Brothers was a judge at one time. Just go with it.
