There's nothing wrong with being called a “ginger.” He should embrace the fact that he isn't like everyone else. Gingers are like unicorns. Soon redheads, like unicorns, will be extinct. 

The South Park character this all came from, Cartman, is offensive in every possible respect. He is intended to personify ignorance and shallow-mindedness in the extreme. If kids at school are emulating Cartman, don't worry about it too much. Cartman is a momma's boy and his mother is a whore who has done porn videos with smeared feces. There was quite a mystery as to who Cartman's father was, there was some speculation that it might be an entire football team. Cartman is the biggest loser there is, and kids that want to be like him will end up dying in their basement apartment below their mother's house from alcoholism at age 45.
