1. The selfie

Qualities: One part Mirror+ one part Smartphone+ one part duckface (optional) = duh!

What it means: selfies have for the most part been a symbol of narcissism in the 21st century. These types of profiles can be perceived in the social media world as being egocentric (“oh! Look at me I’m just so good looking I have to take this shot of myself”.NBD)

2. The landmark/Vacation pic

Qualities: Look for that identifiable city land mark: Times Square, CN Tower, or palm trees and exotic animals ( I have been seeing a lot of koalas lately.)

What it means: so this dude went on a trip and decides that that amazing shot by the Brooklyn Bridge or on the beach will show that he’s adventurous and loves to travel which is not a bad thing. Also it shows he has disposable income.

Note: phallic landmarks are highly suggestive, resulting in numerous messages

3. The Torso

Qualitites: Much like the selfie replace the optional duck face with the mandatory torso and do not for get to add a splash of douche(not optional!)

These photos are reserved for gym rats and/ or closet cases*, they both usually fall in the same category. With a bmi of 1% they would like to let you know for the umpteenth time that they are masc. and NOT interested in FEMS!!!. 4. The Statement

Qualities: These are posters/artwork ripped off “Someeecards", a meme or a typical pop culture pic

What it means: Aggressively (to other users) sums up what they are all about in a funny statement, or crazy artwork. going under the pretense that a picture is worth a thousand words.Can you blame them? Grindr gives you only 140 characters.

5. The Ghost

Qualities: a blank screen usually black, or with the grindr logo in the background, and a landscape. These are profiles with no picture or info whatsoever (no age stats, location, nothing)

What it means: TREAD CAREFULLY FELLAS! Although I have been pleasantly surprised! (like once… Two blue moons ago)
